Unless you are lucky enough to work in the golf business, Labor Day is the "Working Person's" Christmas! Labor Day celebrates not only the UN-official end summer, but, more importantly, how hard each and every person works throughout the year. One of the golf industry's busiest days, many golf courses, Orchard Valley included, make it a weekend affair. Here at Orchard, we have a Saturday cookout, Sunday Family Fun and a wonderful Labor Day afternoon golf special.
One of the recurring themes at any property that I am associated with is the history that is associated with holidays, or any golf-related days. Since we are talking about, and approaching, Labor Day, let's look at how it all came to be! Observed on the first Monday in September, Labor Day pays tribute to the contributions and achievements of American workers. It was created by the labor movement in the late 19th century and became a federal holiday in 1885. Therefore, starting at 3:00 PM on Labor Day, we have 18 holes that include the cart for only $18.85!
As the years, and times have passed, many days and times have come and have gone. Labor Day is an exception to that rule. Please take some time to enjoy your Labor Day weekend and make some time to BBQ or play golf with us here at Orchard Valley Golf Course!
